Pompano Beach, FL, September 15, 2015- Sean Rayhall closes his Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tire Championship with a second place finish at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The 20-year old Rayhall had another great showing and added another podium finish to his shortened but successful Indy Lights championship.
Rayhall, who qualified in sixth position, finished race one in 4th position after having a big jump during a battled race. For race number two, Rayhall started in sixth position once again, but at the green flag Sean made an amazing start and showed his strength on cold tires passing on the outside to take second. He battled hard with series champion, Spencer Pigot, for the whole race and ended up taking second position for his 4th podium finish of the year.
“What a weekend for 8Star Motorsports, Bass Egg and Silver Arrow Technologies,” said Rayhall. “The 8Star Motorsports guys worked hard all weekend and we finished out the season strong! I can’t thank everyone involved this year enough and I am extremely proud of my guys.”
“Once again we had a great showing for the team and I can’t say enough good things about our staff and engineering department. As always we have been very competitive and Sean Rayhall did a great job putting us on the second step of the podium from sixth place,” said team owner Enzo Potolicchio. “I am very satisfied with the partial season we had with Hargrove and Rayhall. The hard work, commitment and dedication and quality of the 8Star Motorsports guys has shown in our results and as a team owner I feel really proud of what we have accomplished this season. We are really looking forward to next season with two cars and having a chance to challenge for the championship. I have to congratulate Anderson Promotions, Dallara, Mazda, and Cooper Tire for putting together this great series. ”
This race ended an amazing run for 8Star Motorsports in the Indy Lights Championship even though the team had an abbreviated season. 8Star Motorsports was able to accomplish two wins, four podium finishes and two fastest lap records with Sean Rayhall after having an amazing opening weekend of the championship with Scott Hargrove.
