Pompano Beach, FL, September 10, 2015- Sean Rayhall returns with 8Star Motorsports for the final race of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tire Championship at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. After an outstanding crowdfunding campaign and support from Bass Egg and Silver Arrow Tech Services, Rayhall will return to the Dallara IL-15 powered by Mazda in a track where he has been successful alongside 8Star Motorsports in the past.
Rayhall, a two-time race winner in the 2015 Indy Lights Championship, was given the opportunity to test an IndyCar for Chip Ganassi Racing alongside Scott Dixon at Sonoma Raceway after some amazing results in the Indy Lights Championship. At Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Sean will be looking to finish the year strong and expand on the success accomplished in this shortened season with 8Star Motorsports.
“I am very happy to be back in the 8Star Motorsports car for the final round of the Indy Lights Championship,” said Rayhall. “I am really fortunate to have Bass Egg and Silver Arrow Technologies on board, along with the crowdfunding effort that went in to do this. Hopefully we can have a good race at MRLS and finish the season on a high note.”
“Even though we have had an abbreviated effort for the 2015 Indy Lights Championship, I believe Sean will have a great performance at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca,” said Team Manager Gary Neal. “Sean performed an outstanding job for us last year in the LMPC car and I am sure 8Star Motorsports will be a challenger for race victories this weekend in the final two rounds, even though the championship is out of reach.”
“I am very happy that Sean found the necessary funding and we will be able to participate in these final rounds at Laguna Seca as it is a track where we have done well in other classes. Since we did not participate in the full championship, our approach to this race will be to do our best and push for our third win of the season,” said team owner Enzo Potolicchio. “I am very satisfied with the partial season we have had so far with Hargrove and Rayhall and we are looking forward to having two cars next season. The hard work, commitment and dedication to quality of the 8Star Motorsports guys has shown and as a team owner I feel really proud.”
The Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca rounds of the Indy Lights Championship will be streamed live on www.RoadToIndyTV.tv. Race one will be Saturday, September 13 at 3:45pm and race two will happen Sunday, September 14 at 2:40pm. NBCSN will broadcast the race September 24th at 11:00pm ET.
